As retailers, we have to ask "What are we doing to ourselves?" Psychology studies have tried relentlessly to make the point that music is important. It affects humans on a sub-conscious level. It draws us in; it makes us tap our fingers and our toes; it drives our sense of belonging, and social behavior.

If the music is appropriate for your audience and clientele, it converts directly into sales, or desired actions you wish them to take. The problem is that "just any old music" won't do. Musical selection must be undertaken thoughtfully and carefully.

There's certainly no shame in making a profit—after all, you're a business. The mistake a lot of Restauranteurs make is in believing that great food is the only driving force behind the success of their business.
